The new faces of fear and risk

What could we do?

While we were preparing for a future without pandemic, or at least a threat now under control, that of the virus, and we were about to resign ourselves to digital control, cyber war, renouncing the freedom of our habits, our models, our privacy; Fear has taken over. A traditional fear is that of war, conflict, food difficulties, lack of energy, physical pain. And everyone wondering what the war with the tanks, the guns, the bombs will be.

We suddenly realize that all of our addictions, fueled by an unstoppable digital revolution, without control and without restraint, and perceived as essential needs, return to being secondary, superfluous, but, at the same time, the digital tools and the global interconnection, on which we have founded our feeling of well-being, become useful tools also for war, for freedom, to communicate, to know.

Incredulous we witness, powerless we reflect, and listen again and again observers, experts in geopolitics, envoys of war - we thought of the latter as a professional figure now outdated - to look for a coherent and complete logical thread that can help us interpret events and outline what may happen next, but if on the one hand everything seems difficult to understand, from the other everything is seen and understood very well.

What to do?

Maintain the balance, in imbalance, continue to be positive, despite the difficulties, resist the changes of scenarios that will also involve our lives, because we can not condition what happens in the geopolitical balances; this is not up to us.

But our lives depend on us, our children’s lives, our companies. And from each of us depends a small impact on the communities in which we live.

If we build with fear, on fear, everything will be labile, conditioned, and the goals we have set ourselves will seem unattainable and when we wake up we may have the great regret of not having done our small part, for the West, for Europe, for us, for our businesses and this risk we can not run today.

"Our strength is the truth: therefore we shall win"

So Zelenski, somewhere in Kiev, in Europe, to spur his people to fight for their freedom and their future.

And so, with this brief reflection, we too can only think of firm nerves, lucid minds, and go forward!
